Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard wishes he could’ve played alongside Premier League stars Bruno Fernandes, , Kevin De Bruyne and .
The head coach called time on a glittering 19-year playing career in 2016, having captained the Reds and England.
Gerrard made 710 appearances for Liverpool, winning nine trophies including the , and lining up next to elite footballing talent for club and country.
In a Q&A with United legend Gary Neville for , Gerrard was asked to name one current player in the Premier League he would’ve loved to have played with.
The ex-England international was unable to pick just one, saying: ‘Mo Salah. I love Bruno Fernandes – you might agree with that. I really like him.
‘Kevin De Bruyne for sure, 100 per cent, I think he’s one of the best in the world right now. Defensive-wise, I think Virgil [van Dijk] is out of this world.’
Gerrard also weighed in on the age-old debate of who is the greatest footballer of all time.
It is the question that divides football fans, with many opting for Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo.
Gerrard went for Barcelona legend and Paris Saint-Germain star Messi, who has claimed a record seven Ballon d’Ors – two more than Ronaldo.
He said: ‘ for me, but I’m someone who would never say a derogatory thing about Ronaldo because he’s another phenomenal.
‘They’re the two in my era that were just… when you’re a footballer and you’ve done it yourself, the numbers are just… I’m not sure who’s going to do that again.’
