Alejandro Garnacho is in contention to make his debut against Norwich City on Saturday.
The 17-year-old forward has scored 12 times across United’s youth ranks this season – including a memorable solo effort in a 4-1 victory over the sixth round of the FA Youth Cup.
Those promising performances are set to be rewarded with the reporting Garnacho will be named in the matchday squad for the visit of the Canaries.
United signed the forward from in 2020. While he was born in Spain, Garnacho was recently called into the senior Argentina squad.
Another young Spaniard in Alvaro Fernandez could also be in contention to make the squad.
The 19-year-old defender joined first-team training ahead of the Norwich game with Luke Shaw potentially out for the rest of the season.
United are carrying a number of injury problems heading into the weekend, opening up space for Garnacho and Fernandez in the group.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick will be without five first-team players as Shaw, Scott McTominay, Raphael Varane, Edinson Cavani and Fred are all struggling with injuries.
‘Five players will still be missing for tomorrow and some of them probably for the upcoming games,’ Rangnick said at his pre-match press conference on Friday before naming the absentees.
