Roy Keane believes have the opposite characteristics of a top team and he was not surprised at all by the performance and result as they were thrashed 4-0 by Liverpool on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils were trounced by their rivals for the second time this season as scored twice and both Luis Diaz and found the back of the net.
The two sides looked worlds apart as the high-tempo, high-quality Reds cut through their visitors and rarely looked troubled at all.
Keane says that the initial anger of where United have fallen to this season has probably faded and now there is just sadness among Red Devils fans.
The Irishman does not recognise, not just the team, but the club for which he played for to such great success in the 1990s and 2000s and they show nothing of what you expect a top side to display.
‘I think it was anger earlier in the season, now I think it’s just sadness,’ Keane told . ‘I don’t think there’s any heart there, no soul, no leaders. They lack real quality. They’re so far off.
‘You just thought Liverpool could score whenever they went forward.
‘There’s disarray at the club, the board, the fans have no time for the owners. They need a new manager, they need players in, they need players out.
‘It’s so sad to see United because it’s not the club I played for. It doesn’t reflect what Man United stood for when I played for them.
‘It’s chalk and cheese. I don’t see a Man United team out there fighting and playing with pride.
‘They’re the opposite of what you’d want in a top team. There’s no characters, no leadership. When the going gets tough, they just crumble.’
Keane added: ‘Whatever we had when I played, there was that bit of pride, but I think it’s gone out of the club now. 4-0 is no surprise.’
