Paul Robinson believes could be sacked by at the end of the season.
Since arriving in January 2021, Tuchel has been a hit at Stamford Bridge, leading the west Londoners to glory and three domestic cup finals including the FA Cup final later this month.
However, after a strong start to the season, the Blues have suffered a downturn in results and are now hanging on to a third place finish in the Premier League with just a point behind them in fourth,
Chelsea have taken a ruthless approach with managers in the past and Robinson, the former Tottenham goalkeeper, thinks Tuchel cannot bank on being the club’s manager next season.
Speaking to, he said: ‘We all know how trigger happy Chelsea have been with their managers. If you don’t win a trophy you are normally in trouble.
‘Often the manager would change after a season like this. Tuchel could well have been in trouble if Abramovich was still in charge.
‘On the flipside, the situation that Tuchel has had to deal with is not easy. It is a situation he did not expect or want.
‘Would they have gone out of the Champions League and have had such a slump in league form if things behind the scenes were stable. There has been a lot of outside influences this season.
‘If you look at Chelsea’s season on face value, you would probably question Tuchel’s future come the end of the season.’
With Tuchel’s team aiming for three trophies back in February, Chelsea’s recent struggles have come unexpectedly.
After losing the League Cup final to Liverpool on penalties, their campaign turned sour when government sanctions placed on their owner Roman Abramovich created uncertainty around the club.
With the Premier League title out of reach, defending the Champions League was a top priority but that ambition ended after Real Madrid knocked them out at the quarter-final stage in April.
League defeats to Arsenal and Everton have since weakened the Blues’ hold on third place. Meanwhile, their 2-2 draw to Wolves on Saturday means Chelsea have won just one of their last five league games.
