boss admits he was ‘surprised’ by Antonio Rudiger’s decision to celebrate his stunning strike against Brentford with him at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
The German scored a stunning long-range strike against the Bees in the Blues’ shock 4-1 defeat at home.
Chelsea took the lead in the second half when Rudiger found the back of the net from 30 yards.
The German is out of contract at the end of the season and he looks set to leave the club, particularly as the Blues are unable to offer contracts to players at this moment in time due to the sanctions imposed on Roman Abramovich.
Rudiger has held talks with both Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, while Manchester United and Bayern Munich have been linked with the German.
But Rudiger certainly didn’t display any suggestion he was unhappy at the club when he sprinted towards Tuchel after scoring his sensational goal against the Bees.
And Tuchel admitted he was ‘surprised’ to see Rudiger celebrate in that fashion, with the German manager saying supporters can make their own minds up about the celebration.
‘If you want to read something into it, you can read something into it,’ said Tuchel.
‘I was surprised he came to me to celebrate. He was maybe surprised that the ball went in, because he tried so many times.
‘But yeah, it was a nice moment. You could see how happy he is, you could see how everybody was happy with him and what it meant to him and what it meant to us.’
