Thousands of fans remained in their sits following the win over in protest against the Glazer family.
In the build-up to Saturday’s clash, the 1958 Group called for supporters to remain behind at Old Trafford to signal their continued opposition to the family’s ownership of the club.
And following United’s dramatic 3-2 comeback win over Forest, that’s exactly what happened, with thousands still in the stadium long after the full-time whistle was blown.
As has become the norm, chants of ‘We want Glazers out’ could be heard loud and clear as the player’s went down the tunnel and continued for the remainder of the protest.
Since last November, the Glazers have been considering selling the club with .
However, fans are understandably furious over how long takeover talks have taken, and of course there is no guarantee whatsoever that the sale will indeed happen.
Eventually, the stadium did begin to clear but there were many still in the Stretford End nearly an hour after full-time.
Asked for his thoughts on the protest and if it affects his team, United boss Erik ten Hag said: ‘What it’s about is they are entitled to have that opinion.
‘But you see between the fans and the team there is a very strong bond. Throughout my time here, it‘s got stronger and stronger.’
As for the match itself, the Red Devils found themselves 2-0 down after just four minutes to Forest, continuing the poor performances seen in the opening games against Wolves and Tottenham.
But Ten Hag’s side rallied with goals from Christian Eriksen and Casemiro getting them level before a late Bruno Fernandes penalty completed the turnaround.
‘Horror start, but the character of the team was brilliant, the manager added.
‘We stayed so calm and so composed. We stuck to our belief, stuck to our plan, played some good football and scored three good goals. It was a great comeback.
‘With all respect to Forest, we can’t allow them [those goals]. They were easy give-aways. It’s crazy, but sometimes games go like this. As I said, we stayed calm.
‘It’s a marker, absolutely. We’ve seen this team can bounce back. If you have such a start, you need to get over it. It’s not easy, but compliments to the team.
‘We have the personality. In certain moments we can definitely improve, but in general this team has the character to bounce back all the time.’
