Chrstian Eriksen will not be short of options when his current Brentford contract expires this summer, with four Premier League clubs linked with a move for the 30-year-old.

The Dane has made a superb return to football after the cardiac arrest he suffered while playing for his country last summer at Euro 2020.

He has been impressive for the Bees and also made an emotional return to the Denmark side in March, scoring just two minutes into his comeback against Netherlands.

Brentford signed him on a six-month contract in January and he is yet to sign a new contract, so is set to be available on a free transfer at the end of the season.

According to an report, the Bees are keen to keep hold of him beyond this campaign and will offer him a longer-term deal to keep him at the club.

However, the report states that his former side Tottenham Hotspur are also interested in bringing him back to north London and are paying ‘closest attention’ to his future.

A blockbuster move to Manchester United has also been mooted, while Newcastle United have been linked with making an offer for Eriksen as they plot a huge summer makeover.

A switch to Old Trafford may seem the least likely of the options for Eriksen, and much will depend on who takes over as manager over the summer.

However, Eriksen does have links with the two men who have been most heavily linked with replacing Ralf Rangnick as United boss.

Mauricio Pochettino, the current PSG manager, was Eriksen’s boss at Spurs from 2014-19, while the Dane played for Ajax until moving to the Premier League in 2013. That was long before Erik ten Hag took over at Ajax but Eriksen returned to his former club earlier this season to keep fit before moving to Brentford.
