Tottenham close to sealing Radu Dragusin transfer after offering player on loan with Timo Werner to undergo medical

are closing in on a deal to sign Genoa defender Radu Dragusin after offering Djed Spence on loan to the Serie A side as part of the deal.

, identifying international as their top target.

Having opened talks with Genoa last week, Tottenham are now close to sealing a £25million deal including add-ons to bring the 21-year-old to north .

, also holding talks with Genoa in recent days. But Spurs are now believed to have won the race for his signature with an agreement now close.  

To sweeten the deal, Spence has been offered to the Italian side after his loan spell at Leeds United was cut short last week. The full-back made just seven appearances for the Championship side.

Signing a centre-half has been a priority at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month.

Ange Postecoglou has been without his first-choice centre-halves Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven for the last two months with the latter sidelined with a hamstring injury, returning to the squad on Friday for the FA Cup clash with Burnley.

Romero has also missed Tottenham’s last four games with a hamstring injury, also serving a three-match ban in November and December.

In their absences, Ange Postecoglou has turned to full-backs Emerson Royal and Ben Davies to full in at the heart of defence. Eric Dier has fallen out of favour and could join reunite with Harry Kane at Bayern Munich this month.

The former Chelsea star is expected to undergo a medical today ahead of his loan move which will include an option to buy for £15m in the summer.  

Werner is expected to be signed before Tottenham’s trip to Manchester United on Sunday.

With Son Heung-min on international duty with South Korea at the Asian Cup, the Germany international could come straight into the team this weekend.
