Davinson Sanchez is in ‘advanced talks’ to sign for Spartak Moscow after they submitted a €12million (£10.4m) bid for the outcast.

The centre-back has been expected to leave Spurs for some time now have fallen way down the pecking order and enduring a nightmare campaign in 2022/23.

He started just eight games last season and was infamously booed by his own supporters when he was subbed on and off in the same match against in April.

Though the Columbia international was included in the club’s tour squad, he is not part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans, with the new manager looking to shift the side to a back-four formation and recruit at least one new defender to play as a left-sided centre-back.

Sanchez is only really capable on the right and will find game time limited with Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Japhet Tanganga in that position.

And with just one year left on his contract, Tottenham want to recoup some money on the player they bought from Ajax for £42m in 2017.

And it seems they have a buyer, with reporting that Spartak have bid €12m for the defender with talks at an advanced stage between both clubs.

The Russian side are optimistic a deal can be completed for the 27-year-old, who was once Spurs’ record signing.

In all, Sanchez has made 205 appearances for the north London club, helping them reach the finals of the 2019 Champions League and 2021 Carabao Cup.

He would become the third player to leave Tottenham this summer, following Harry Winks who has joined Leicester and Lucas Moura who is still a free agent.

More departures are expected, including that of club captain Hugo Lloris and potentially Harry Kane with Bayern Munich determined to sign the striker.

Any transfer fee they get for Sanchez will go some way to funding Postecoglou’s rebuild of the squad which has already seen the arrival of James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario and Manor Solomon, as well as the permanent signings of Dejan Kulusevski and Pedro Porro for a combined £117m.
