Tim Sherwood insists midfielder ‘has more to his game’ than ’s British record signing .

Bissouma joined Spurs in a £30million move in June 2022 but struggled to replicate his Brighton form as Spurs endured a difficult 2022-23 campaign, also hampered by an ankle injury.

under Ange Postecoglou, almost ever-present in the manager’s starting XI and turning in an excellent display in Sunday’s 2-2 draw with arch-rivals Arsenal.

Caicedo made the same move from Brighton to the capital, joining Chelsea in a £110million deal in another summer of rampant spending at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have endured a woeful start to the new campaign

But after Bissouma’s excellent start to the season, former Tottenham and Aston Villa manager Sherwood is convinced his former side have got the better midfielder.

For me, it’s a big statement because Caicedo has gone for a lot of money, but I think he has got more to his game than Caicedo,’ Sherwood told

‘Bissouma was always the one. Caicedo is a lot younger but I just believe he has more facets to his game, I really do.

‘Postecoglou has to get all the credit, he has put his arm around the boy and said: “Fresh start, no matter what managers previously felt of you, this is the way we are going to play and I think it is going to suit your style”.

‘I want you to play with a lot of freedom, I want you to drift with the ball.

‘It’s alright passing through lines, this boy moves through lines, drives with it and dribbles. fans are loving him at the moment.’

Bissouma has played a key role in Tottenham’s excellent start to the season with the north Londoners sat in fourth place having won four of their opening six games.

Chelsea’s problems have continued, slumped in 14th place having taken just five points from a possible 18.
