Tottenham target Trevoh Chalobah as Chelsea starlet has concerns over playing time

Tottenham are reportedly interested in Chelsea starlet Trevoh Chalobah as the defender weighs up his future.

The Blues defender has seemingly fallen down the pecking order of defenders at the club as he is yet to make an appearance for ’s side this season.

After and Andreas Christensen left on free transfers in the summer, the club signed central defender Kalidou Koulibaly as well as the versatile Marc Cucurella, who can operate at left centre-back.

Chelsea want another defender in before the transfer deadline and they are targeting ’s Wesley Fofana.

Reports claim the Blues have seen two bids rejected from Leicester as the Foxes hold out for a fee of around £80million.

According to the , Chalobah is concerned the signing of Fofana would block his pathway and thus the 23-year-old may look for a move away on loan or permanently.

Antonio Conte’s Spurs and Serie A outfits Roma and Inter Milan are the teams credited with an interest in Chalobah.

However, the centre-back has a deal until 2026 and the club are currently blocking his exit.

Meanwhile, Blues boss Tuchel has confirmed that talks are underway with the club to extend his contract at Stamford Bridge, which runs until 2024.

‘There are talks, but I think given the situation where we come from and where we are right now, in the middle of the transfer period, I think it is for the best if I focus on my team and being competitive,’ Tuchel said.

‘You know how glad I am to be here and how much I like it. It is a good thing.

‘Nobody questions my passion and how happy I am to be here and to fight.

‘My love for the group, and I see myself as part of this group and I am happy that we have the support of the fans because we need them. They make such a difference.’
