‘We would consider it’ – Napoli president offers Manchester United and Chelsea hope over Victor Osimhen deal

Napoli hope to agree a contract extension with but club president Aurelio de Laurentiis says they will consider an offer for the striker ‘they cannot refuse’ this summer.

Osimhen netted 31 times during a superb campaign with Napoli, putting him on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Napoli have confirmed Rudi Garcia as their new heads coach with Luciano Spalletti opting to step away from football for a year following his Scudetto success last season.

During the unveiling of the news boss, de Laurentiis offered an update on Osimhen’s future, refusing to rule out an exit if a big money offer arrives.

‘We already talked to Osimhen before the Scudetto celebration, so we already have a basic agreement on a two-year extension of his contract,’ the Napoli president said.

‘I have said for a while that Osimhen has to stay. Then, if an offer came in that I could not refuse for the good of Napoli, then we would consider it, as is only natural.’

United had made Harry Kane their first choice striker target this summer

Osimhen has remained of interest but reports claim Napoli value the striker at £130million, almost certainly placing him out of their reach too.

Chelsea also hope to sign a new no9 and those efforts could be boosted by a string of upcoming sales to Saudi Arabian clubs.  

Chelsea are in talks with Al-Nassr over a deal for Hakim Ziyech while Kalidou Koulibaly is likely to join Al-Hilal. Goalkeeper Edouard Mendy is closing in on a move to Al-Ahli.
