have reportedly made an offer for Paris Saint-Germain’s Thilo Kehrer, with desperate for defensive reinforcements.

The news could mean that the Irons have cooled their interest in centre-back Eric Bailly who is surplus to requirements at Old Trafford, though they may come back to the Ivory Coast international if the Kehrer deal falls through.

Kehrer, who can play as either a centre-back or right-back, has just one-year left on his PSG contract and according to the Ligue 1 champions are more than happy to sell the 25-year-old.

Moyes is in the midst of a defensive injury crisis, with only one available centre-back, namely , at the London Stadium currently and was forced to play full-back Ben Johnson in a central role in their Premier League opener against Manchester City last Sunday.

Craig Dawson and summer signing Nayef Aguerd missed the 2-0 loss to City though injury, while Angelo Ogbonna is still regaining fitness after suffering a long-term knee injury last November.

Issa Diop was also absent as he nears a move to Fulham, and West Ham will more than likely use the £15million fee they are about to receive from the Cottagers to sign his replacement.

Kehrer joined PSG from Schalke for £33m in 2018, going on to win three Ligue 1 titles and starting the Parisian’s Champions League final defeat to Bayern Munich in 2020.

He has also been capped 20 times by Germany but saw his game time lessen last season following the arrivals of Sergio Ramos and Achraf Hakimi and was left out of the squad entirely for PSG’s opening two games of the season.

West Ham will hope to have signed Kehrer, or an alternative centre-back target, before their next game on Sunday, a trip to the City Ground to play newly promoted Nottingham Forest.
