As it happens, Hungary has another record – scoring a whopping 27 goals in the 1954 World Cup, making it the highest number by one country in a single World Cup tournament.
Brazil currently holds the record for most World Cup goals across the years, mind, with 229 total since 1930, according to .
But what about individual players?
Legendary footballer Just Fontaine holds the record for most goals scored by an individual in a single World Cup tournament, as he netted 13 goals for France across six matches at the 1958 World Cup.
