The EFL will also operate to the same timescale.

Can clubs still sign players outside of the window?

Teams will be able to sign players between now and the opening of the January transfer window.

However, clubs will not be able to register their new signings until the window opens.

The only exception is the Premier League and EFL emergency loan rule, which allows clubs to sign a goalkeeper on a loan if all the keepers in their first team squad are unavailable due to either injury or suspension.

Free agents – players who are not contracted to a club – are able to sign deals with teams at any point throughout the year.
