William Gallas believes Erik ten Hag has ‘disrespected’ and has tipped to sign the wantaway striker in January.
Ronaldo looks set to leave Old Trafford in January after hitting out at United in an extraordinary interview with .
In the wide-ranging interview, Ronaldo said he does not respect current Red Devils manager Ten Hag and claimed United have not ‘evolved’ since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
Ronaldo has been widely condemned for his comments but Gallas at least sympathises with the striker, claiming Ten Hag has ‘disrespected’ him this season.
The former Premier League defender also says he ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Chelsea made a move to sign Ronaldo in January.
New Chelsea owner Todd Boehly considered a move for the Portugal legend last summer and may decide to revive his interest if he gets the backing of Blues boss Graham Potter.
‘I think that Cristiano Ronaldo will leave Manchester United after the World Cup,’ Gallas told . ‘I won’t be surprised to see him go to Chelsea either.
‘He was honest and spoke from the heart and I think everybody is a little bit surprised by what has happened to him at United this season.
‘The only people who know what was said about his role and importance in the team are him and the manager.
‘When you look at what Erik Ten Hag did to him, putting him on the bench, for a player of Ronaldo’s standing, it’s difficult to understand, but he accepted it.
‘When Ten Hag is asking a player like Ronaldo to come off the bench for the last two or three minutes, he is showing him a lack of respect. It would be better to give those minutes to some younger players. Ten Hag has to respect what Ronaldo has done throughout his career.’
