winger Willy Gnonto has effectively gone on in a bid to force through a move away from Elland Road.
The asked to be left out of the side’s Carabao Cup win against Shrewsbury on Wednesday night as he seeks a move away from the club.
Leeds have made it clear they want to keep the winger, who signed a five-year deal with the club only 12 months ago.
Gnonto was a leading light for Leeds last term, despite their relegation to the Championship.
And the club’s board feel he can help them regain their top-flight status by remaining at the club this season to head their bid to get out of the Championship.
But the Italy international wants to leave, and refused to play on Wednesday night.
Gnonto played against Cardiff on the opening weekend of the Championship season but he’s now concerned that the club will not listen to offers for him.
