Wolves will demand £70 million for Ruben Neves this summer with the midfielder keen to stay in the Premier League following interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.
Since being promoted with the club back in 2018, Neves, 25, has been a star in the Premier League and his absence has played a big part in Wolves’ loss of form in recent weeks.
The Portuguese has been linked heavily with a move to and this summer but reports suggest and are also interested in his signature.
However, according to the , Neves will aim to keep playing in the Premier League next season, with Wolves to ask for a massive fee for their star player.
Neves has two years remaining on his contract at Molineux and is believed to want to play Champions League football.
That gives Arsenal an advantage in the race to sign the Wolves man with United out of the running for the top-four this season.
The Gunners currently sit in fourth place, a point ahead of Tottenham with a game in hand and play their north London rivals on Thursday.
Manager Mikel Arteta has already spoken of the importance of Champions League qualification as he looks to bolster a threadbare squad in the summer.
‘To take the club to the next level and to compete really with the top teams. In order to do that, we have to be playing in the Champions League,’ Arteta said.
‘We have to be able to evolve the team, improve our players, improve all departments, generate even more connection with our fans, improve the atmosphere at the Emirates, be able to recruit top, top talent and the best people for this club to drive this project to that level.’
Injuries to Thomas Partey this season have highlighted Arsenal’s lack of depth in midfield and, although Mohamed Elneny has covered well, the Egyptian’s contract runs out in the summer.
Meanwhile, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are likely to be sold by the club following successful loan spells meaning Arteta could be left with just three central-midfielders in Partey, Granit Xhaka and Sambi Lokonga.
