France star Adrien Rabiot has admitted that he still wants to move to the Premier League amid links to and Newcastle.

Midfielder Rabiot has been starring at 2022 in the absence of N’Golo Kante and , scoring Les Bleus’ opening goal of the tournament and helping them reach the quarter-final stage.

All this ought to help the 27-year-old secure a much-desired transfer, with his contract at Juventus up at the end of the season.

Rabiot came close to leaving Turin over the summer after Juventus agreed a deal with Manchester United, but the move collapsed after he failed to agree personal terms with the Red Devils.

While he has since stated that he is glad the transfer did not happen, the former PSG player still dreams of playing in England and will look to secure a move there in January, when Premier League clubs can approach the soon to be free agent.

‘I have always said that I’d like to play in England in my career. I still have that desire,’ Rabiot told .

‘I’d like to evolve in the Premier League. It’s the league, it’s the level of play that’s going on, that’s what attracts me most. It corresponds to my qualities.

‘I haven’t got a Premier League team in mind right now. I haven’t chosen a team or anything. It’s a general thing.’

In November, it was reported that Chelsea, Arsenal and Tottenham were all weighing up a move for Rabiot, though it now seems that latter two’s interest has cooled.

Graham Potter’s side are in the market for new midfielders with the futures of Kante and Jorginho in question with the duo also out of contract in 2023.

The Blues will face competition for Rabiot’s signature however from Newcastle who are keen to add players with Champions League experience to their squad after a fantastic start to the season that has left the Magpies third in the table.

It may surprise some to learn however, that the midfielder has actually played in England before, having briefly spent time at Manchester City’s academy.

‘It was very good experience. I didn’t do a whole season, though,’ Rabiot added.

‘Everything went well while I was there. I really liked the atmosphere. It’s really something that is only in England. It’s different from France and Italy.’

Rabiot will next be in action for France when they take on England on Saturday for a place in the World Cup semi-finals.
