Arsenal target four key signings as part of summer rebuild

are keen on signing two strikers, a No.10 and a left-back as the north London club plan a rebuild of their squad this summer, according to reports.

The Gunners spent close to £160million on new signings last summer after missing out on qualifying for European football in the previous campaign.

This season, Arsenal are battling Tottenham, and for Champions League qualification via the top four.

Mikel Arteta’s side are currently in fifth place, level on points with their north London rivals Spurs, who are ahead of them on goal difference.

In terms of strengthening their squad in the summer, the report that the Gunners are eyeing two centre-forwards, given both Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are out of contract in the summer.

As less of a priority, the club are also said to want a No.10 and to bolster the left side of their defence.

The report also states that Arsenal will be targeting homegrown players in the summer.

Discussing the club’s summer plans last month, Arteta hinted there is a lot of business to be done.

‘I am expecting [a busy summer], yes,’ said Arteta. ‘I think both competitions [the and ] require a much larger squad because the number of games you play is much bigger in both, so I don’t think [which you qualify for] makes a lot of difference changes a lot.

‘If you can financially afford it and we don’t have to do the turnaround in the squad that we’ve had to do, if you ask me what I want it’s 22 outfield players and three goalkeepers.

‘You have to come a long way in the aspects that you see on the pitch, it’s a lot of things that have to be put in place, and that takes time.’
