‘Of course, I want to get more playing time. I want to be on the field as much as I can and be the sharpest I can be and fit as well.

‘I think I still got a lot of games, but it’s always something that I’m working at and trying to be regular at club level as well to put myself in the best position to be fit when I come here with the national team.’

‘At the end of the season, we were able to meet with them and they were around the club a lot,’ Pulisic added. ‘They are really good people so I’m excited moving forward.’

Meanwhile, former Chelsea defender Frank Leboeuf has urged Pulisic to move away from Stamford Bridge this summer.

Speaking before Chelsea’s final game of the season, Leboeuf told : ‘Pulisic is more influential for the national team than for Chelsea. I think with the future of Chelsea, I don’t see him playing a lot.

‘It’s more advice than me wanting to see him leave. But if he wants to play next season and still wants to be the captain of America, he will have to find another team.

‘If Christian Pulisic stays with Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Mason Mount and maybe another one coming in, I don’t see him playing.

‘He’s never showed that it’s absolutely crucial to have him in the team so I think he has to go.’
