The Brazilian is one of a number of players that could be available at a cut-price fee should Leeds be relegated to the Championship today.

It is thought the winger’s release clause will be just £25million should Jesse Marsch’s side go down and that figure is substantially lower than what Leeds could get for Raphinha on the open market.

Ten Hag is determined to hit the ground running at Old Trafford and he’s keen to sign a new centre forward to compliment .

However, a move for Benfica ace Darwin Nunez is looking unlikely as the Uruguayan wants to play in the .

In the absence of a new forward, Ten Hag will target a goalscoring winger and the Telegraph say Raphinha is off significant interest to the Dutchman.

The Brazil international’s ability to cut in from the right onto his stronger left foot is particularly appealing to Ten Hag, as it allows more space for the right full-back to overlap and provides creative thrust for crosses into the box.

Ten Hag used Hakim Ziyech in a similar way during his time in Amsterdam and Raphinha’s arrival could mean Jadon Sancho could play in his preferred position from the left, where he can do the same job in reverse.

United would not be the only suitors for Raphinha and Barcelona have long been touted as a potential destination.

Leeds’ rivalry with United has already made a move for Kalvin Phillips unlikely but it remains to be seen if Raphinha would have the same reservations about crossing the divide.

Ten Hag will be given around £150m to spend this summer, with a centre-back, a central midfielder and a forward all a priority.
