Paul Merson admits he has been impressed with four of Arsenal’s summer signings after they initially failed to convince the Gunners legend.
The north club carried out a comprehensive rebuild of their squad in the summer, spending almost £160million on new players.
Mikel Arteta changed much of his backline, with goalkeeper , centre-back Ben White and right-back coming in.
Further forward, the Gunners agreed a permanent deal for playmaker , who has flourished of late.
All four aforementioned players have excelled and are helping Arsenal in their push to finish in the Premier League’s top four.
Merson questioned the signings when they were made, but feels they have been ‘outstanding’ this season.
‘The signings he [Arteta] brought in this season, every one of them has been an absolute success and a half. I’ve never known a window like it,’ Merson told talkSPORT.
‘I was thinking I’m not sure about these players. The goalie [Ramsdale] had let in more goals than any other goalie in the last three years.
‘Tomiyasu, I always think if you’re playing in Italy and no one else wants you in Italy, you can’t be that great.
‘, there was a thing was he a centre half or was he a holding midfield player.
‘Odegaard I felt like wanted to go back to and were like the last resort, but all of them have been absolutely outstanding.’
