Pep Guardiola provides injury update on Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker ahead of Liverpool showdown

Kevin de Bruyne and Kyle Walker remain doubts for ’s semi-final showdown against Liverpool.

Both players were forced off injured during Wednesday’s bruising goalless draw with with ’s progressing to the Champions League semi-final on the night.

Another huge fixture looms large with City set to meet Liverpool for the second time in six days at Wembley on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking at a press conference, Guardiola confirmed both de Bruyne and Walker missed training on Friday but will be given late fitness tests ahead of kick-off in the capital.

‘We will see tomorrow about De Bruyne and Walker [they did not train with the team today].

‘Ruben Dias trained today and we will see about him,’ Guardiola said.

Discussing the injuries, Guardiola added: ‘He [Walker] had a big twist but it is getting better.

‘In football, these kinds of things happen. We will see how he adapts in the next few hours, days, for the next games.’

‘It is stitches in his [de Bruyne’s] calf. It is not a muscular injury.’

City are still in the hunt for the treble with Liverpool’s quadruple hopes still firmly alive after their League Cup success.

‘In six seasons we are together we have made five FA Cup semi-finals,’ Guardiola said. ‘It is amazing. Last season was quite similar to today.

‘Hopefully, we can perform a bit better than we did against Chelsea last season. We have a chance to reach the final of the FA Cup, the FA Cup is so prestigious sometimes more prestigious than the Premier League.’
