Roma, West Ham and Newcastle United in race to sign Jesse Lingard from Manchester United

Jesse Lingard could link back up with at AS Roma in the summer, according to .

The 29-year-old has spent much of this season on the bench at after he was refused the chance to leave on loan in January.

However, his contract runs out in two months’ time and he will not be signing an extension which means he is free to move on.

Reports says there are three clubs in the race to sign Lingard with and Newcastle having already made offers to his agent, while Roma are also sounding out a move.

Roma are currently managed by Mourinho, who Lingard enjoyed a good relationship with at United when the Portuguese was boss at Old Trafford between 2016 and 2018.

In recent years, other England internationals such as Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have also made the move to Serie A.

It is thought those looking to sign Lingard may have to stump up nearly £150,000 a week in wages and bonuses to sign him.

Lingard caught the eye of many suitors during a loan spell with West Ham last season when he scored nine goals in 16 appearances.

In December, Hammers manager Moyes spoke of his admiration for Lingard and how disappointed he was that the winger wasn’t playing.

‘I can’t really talk about him because he’s a Manchester United player and it’s not for me to talk,’ said Moyes.

‘But he was really good for us. Jesse knows what we all think of him here. My disappointment for Jesse would be, I think he’s such a talented football player and he’s not playing.’

Lingard has made only 13 Premier League appearances for United this season.
