Spain head coach Luis Enrique rules out Manchester United move this summer

Luis Enrique has ruled himself out of contention to become ’s next manager by declaring that he will remain as Spain head coach for their World Cup campaign.

United have already begun their search for a long-term replacement for and interviewed ’s Erik ten Hag last week.

But United are also considering other options including and Sevilla’s Julen Lopetegui.

Reports have also claimed that United consider Luis Enrique a strong candidate following his impressive record at Barcelona.

But the 51-year-old is adamant that he will be guiding Spain at the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

‘I will be in Qatar with Spain because I have given my word and there is nothing that makes me more excited than representing my country in the . After that, we will see,’ Luis Enrique said.

‘And even more so with this national team and with this federation. I can say it louder, but not more clearly. I’m where I want to be.’

Meanwhile, Lopetegui has also ruled himself out of the running to be United’s next manager.

‘I have said it many times and I say it now, I am where I want to be, at Sevilla,’ he told ABC de Sevilla.

‘I’m happy. Here I can develop my work in the best possible way.

‘It is so, without a doubt. From then on, in football no one ever knows where he might be, because this goes around a lot, but I have no doubts.

‘My will is firm. I am where I really want to be.’
