organisers might not want us to think is but there are a number of clues suggesting she’s heading to Worthy Farm.
The singer, 65, is one of the hot favourites to play the Pyramid Stage next year, with the likes of and also
include – despite her being fully stocked with next year – , , and even with a potential comeback tour.
While nothing is set in stone just yet, Glasto fans believe organiser Emily Eavis could be trying to throw us off the scent, so, let’s take a look at the clues supporting the Madonna 2024 headliner theory…
Madonna’s Celebration Tour
Madonna is currently on the road with which was when she was found unresponsive at home.
But, in true Madonna style, she’s proven that she’s definitely still got it, wowing sold-out venues of thousands of adoring fans with all her biggest hits, epic choreography,
The Vogue hitmaker is on the road until April next year, concluding in Mexico City.
So, with Glastonbury kicking off on June 26, surely that gives her plenty of time to rest up and plan an epic headline set?
‘A really big American artist’
Glastonbury organisers have only added fuel to the fire by telling us ‘a really big American artist’ is heading to Somerset.
Speaking to Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw’s podcast Sidetracked With Annie And Nick, Emily Eavis revealed they had a slot saved for one major star, who festivalgoers reckon is
‘I thought it was kind of taking shape, and then last week I just got a call,’ she said.
She added that, most years, Glastonbury acts will be fully booked up from July the year before – but ‘this year we were holding out for a little bit longer.’
And just a few weeks ago, Emily got the call confirming the ‘really big American artist is around next year.’
‘And I was like, “Oh my God, this is incredible. Thank God we held the slot.’
Bookies’ odds on Madonna headlining
You don’t just have to take our word for it – the bookies are also backing Madonna for Glasto 2024.
The Queen of Pop was originally 4/1 to top the bill at Worthy Farm next year just last month.
Her odds then slipped to 6/4 a few weeks ago as other names emerged, but they have now climbed back up.
As for other odds, Harry Styles is 7/1, Spice Girls are 6/1, The 1975 are 7/2, and Beyoncé is 8/1.
‘Two female headliners’
Having been slammed in the past for a lack of female headliners, Emily Eavis spoke earlier this year about wanting two on the bill next time.
In 2023, the festival was headlined by , , and
Speaking in March, Emily defended the all-male headliners for this year’s festival, explaining that there had been plans to have a woman as the star attraction for night one, but the plans fell through.
So, she has been keen to get two female headliners to make up for things in 2024.
She told the BBC: ‘We try our best and we obviously aim for 50:50. Some years, it’s more, some years, it’s less.
‘This year, we did have a female headliner, and she unfortunately had to pull out. It changes all the time.
‘But next year it’s looking like we’ve got two female headliners, so fingers crossed.’
Emily Eavis trying to throw us off the scent?
Emily was forced to deny the Madonna rumours after the line-up supposedly L***ed.
Declaring the Madonna speculation ‘untrue’, she asked fans to be patient while plans are finalised.
‘As always, there is much speculation and excitement about who is playing at Glastonbury,’ she wrote on Instagram.
She continued: ‘We are working on the line-up day and night at the moment, but it’s still changing every day. The story about our confirmed headliners is untrue.
‘As always, we love your enthusiasm and guesswork – but accurate news on headliners will be with you sometime in the new year!’
…is she just trying to throw us off so we’ll be more excited when the news finally drops?
