Amanda Holden believes she knows who would be a good replacement for on the sofa.

She shared her views after, Phil, 61,  the  daytime show with ‘immediate effect’ after 20 years on May 20.

His departure comes after endless headlines  with sources claiming they  and their friendship has ‘dwindled’.

While Holly and Phil traditionally used to take the reins from Monday to Thursday, Alison Hammond and present the Friday edition of the show, as well as episodes during the school holidays.

While appearing on her Heart Breakfast show, Amanda’s co-host Jamie Theakston asked if she thinks Dermot would be ‘good to replace’ Schofield.

The 52-year-old said: ‘Yes. I think him and Alison do a great job, don’t they?’

Amanda could end up being right, as Dermot currently has odds of 4/1 for becoming Phil’s replacement, according to Ladbrokes.

Dermot spoke recently about how much enjoyment he has for This Morning on podcast .

‘It’s a nice thing. If someone said to me, “You’re doing Fridays for the next 10 years” I’d be over the moon. I love it,’ he said.

Royalty of daytime television, Alison is at the top of the list though, with bookmakers giving the future Great British Bake Off host odds of 2/1.

No stranger to the This Morning sofa, X Factor star Rylan Clark is next in line with odds of 3/1.

Amanda has previously spoken of an apparent rift between her and Phil, claiming that she extended an olive branch by asking to meet him for a coffee – though he ‘didn’t reply’ – in 2019.

She seemingly made a dig at Phil on the day his departure was announced.

Shortly after Phil released his statement with the news, Amanda took to her own Instagram page to share a simple image of the flexed bicep emoji with a black background.

The post had no caption, although the symbol is obviously frequently used as a way of celebrating or showing victory.

This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
