have after nine series, and will no longer be working with Dick and Angel Strawbridge.
The split occurred after the TV channel launched an independent investigation into their conduct.
Dick, 63, was married to his first wife Brigit until 2010, and then wed Angel, 44, in 2015 and the pair have gone on to create a successful TV show, so some fans are shocked at the axing.
Here, we explain why it’s come to an end and if the chateau will now be sold…
Why is Escape to the Chateau ending?
A Channel 4 spokesperson told Mero.co.uk: ‘Following a review, we have taken the decision not to work with Dick and Angel on any new productions in the future.’
Concerns were originally raised by production company Two Rivers Media who will also no longer work with the couple, reports. The reasons for the concerns have not been publicly shared.
The publication spoke with three of their former colleagues, who alleged that Dick and Angel have clashed with the producers.
A source said: ‘There has been a deteriorating relationship between Two Rivers and Dick and Angel’s Chateau TV for various reasons and it all came to a head.’
‘Producers turn them into this perfect, brilliant, funny couple. They’re that on camera, but that’s about it,’ another source added. However, one producer described them as ‘warm and welcoming.’
Are the Strawbridges selling their cheateau?
Dick and Angel purchased the chateau in France’s Martigné-sur-Mayenne for £280,000 in 2015, but it had no electricity, sewage or heating, and the show followed the pair renovating and restoring it.
The stunning 45-bedroom mansion, Chateau-de-la-Motte Husson, is now a completely different property and the couple have not shared plans to sell it.
Their website describes the chateau as still ‘teeming with life and activity, not only courtesy of our children Arthur and Dorothy, who simply love exploring their very own ‘castle’, but with guests.’
The couple also offers weddings at the chateau, but it’s currently a two-year waitlist!
However, another one of their properties that featured on the spin-off show Escape to the Chateau DIY, is up for sale.
The chateau located in Saint-Maixent-l’ecole is being sold for around £710,000.
The reads: ‘Recently restored, this beautiful residence is a magnificent family home while offering a wealth of options for a special events/accommodation activity.’
