Just when you thought you couldn’t get any more excited for the upcoming Barbie blockbuster, in comes a clip of Ryan Gosling’s Ken singing an angsty song about being second best.

With just days to go until , film fans have been presented with a sneak preview of the Hollywood star’s character pouring his heart out in a musical number.

‘It doesn’t seem to matter what I do, I’m always number two,’ Ken sings. ‘No one knows how hard I try.’

‘Hey, check me out, I’m just Ken,’ he later adds, before ending the number by screaming: ‘I’ll see you on the Malibu beach!’

Unsurprisingly, the musical scene has sent fans into a meltdown, with one dramatically commenting: ‘I just fell to my knees in Walmart.’

‘Ryan Gosling has carried this movie from the first moment,’ another applauded.

While a third criticised: ‘YOU GUYS SHOULD HAVE KEPT THIS SCENE A SECRET!!!’

Barbie, which is due to hit cinemas on July 21, stars Margot Robbie as the pink-loving title character alongside a cast including Ryan, Issa Rae, America Ferrera, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, and Dua Lipa.

The film follows Barbie as she leaves the utopian Barbieland after questioning her mortality and travels to the ‘real world’ with her boyfriend Ken, played by Ryan.

The main trailer for the film sees the doll living a perfect life until things start to go wrong, including losing the ability to glide down from her roof and finding her signature arched feet have fallen flat.

In May, Ryan defended his casting in the Barbie movie, saying: ‘If people don’t want to play with my Ken, there are many other Kens to play with.’

Speaking to British GQ, he continued: ‘It is funny… this kind of clutching-your-pearls idea of, like, #notmyken.

‘Like you ever thought about Ken before this? But suddenly, it’s like, “No, we’ve cared about Ken this whole time”. No, you didn’t. You never did. You never cared. Barbie never f***** with Ken. That’s the point.

‘If you ever really cared about Ken, you would know that nobody cared about Ken. So your hypocrisy is exposed. This is why his story must be told.’

Barbie is due for release globally on July 21.
