BBC denies claims coverage of King Charles’ Coronation lacks impartiality

The BBC have addressed claims that its coverage on III upcoming Coronation has been lacking in impartiality.

Though the accession took place in September last year,  where Charles will be crowned alongside  in a ceremony  .

The event will see a host of famous faces, from members of the , world leaders, stars from the world of entertainment, and more.

There will be a whole weekend of celebrations across the UK, from  to a special  and community projects.

In a letter shared with Metro.co.uk, the campaign group  claimed the broadcaster made ‘no attempt to be impartial or balanced’ in its lead-up coverage to the big day, which will be held Saturday May 6.

‘The result of the BBC’s failures is that the coverage serves the interests of a shrinking minority who could reasonably be called royalists. In doing so, they do a disservice to the whole nation,’ the letter read.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: ‘We believe our reporting is fair and duly impartial, and BBC News always seeks to reflect a range of viewpoints in our Royal coverage.’

The broadcaster regarding its wall-to-wall coverage of the Queen’s death last year.

In response to the recent backlash, the corporation said: ‘The death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is an event of national and international significance which is being reflected in our output.

‘This has meant changes to our schedules. Programme alternatives have been available – including on iPlayer and Sounds.’

Take That,  and Lionel Richie are  who will perform at the glamorous event to  the BBC has announced.

The line-up will also include Italian opera singer Andrea Bocelli, Welsh bass-baritone Sir Bryn Terfel, singer-songwriter Freya Ridings and classical-soul composer Alexis Ffrench, with more acts to be announced soon.

The concert, produced by BBC Studios Productions, will be broadcast live from the grounds of Windsor Castle on BBC One, BBC iPlayer, BBC Radio 2 and BBC Sounds.
