has teased the possibility of reviving Castaway 23 years after the show launched his career.

The 49-year-old adventurer appeared on Castaway 2000 as 36 men, women and children from across the UK spent a year filming themselves building a community on the Scottish island of Taransay.

The BBC One show did return for a second series in 2007, followed by a five-part reunion for the original 2000 stars the following year on BBC Two, but otherwise, it’s been pretty quiet.

However, Ben – who is also looking to do his bit towith his beloved dog Bella after they spent weeks together lost at sea – has revealed the owners of the island are looking to restore it to protect its heritage, and he’s hoping to help with the mission.

Sharing a photo of himself with the shore in the background, he wrote on Instagram: ‘The owners of Taransay are looking for someone to help restore the island and protect its social and cultural heritage.

‘It would make a great social enterprise working alongside the community of Harris to help restore the islands biodiversity but also to evolve the island.’

The TV star hinted that the project could even be the premise for a new series of Castaway, which would certainly be a perfect fit.

He continued: ‘I tried unsuccessfully to do this 12 years ago, maybe it’s second time lucky. Anyone interested in joining me with a proposal? Castaway 2.0? #taransay’
