The 48-year-old Hollywood actor starred in – a project that aimed to tell the life story of the legendary conductor – and looked worlds away from his normal self.Â
Taking on his second directorial feat, the star embodied Leonard in the biographical romance, which he produced and co-wrote, in addition to his acting contributions.
The film documented the acclaimed conductor and composer’s life and paid particular attention to his rocky 25-year-long marriage to Felicia Montealegre, played by Carey Mulligan, 38.
In a black-and-white teaser, the star can be seen evolving into the older version of the musician and his transformation is nothing short of shocking.
Starting out as a young handsome man in a dapper suit, the trailer made it clear the movie would show off the figure’s romantic life as it was voiced by Bradley and Carey sharing a playful exchange.
The footage featured scenes of the lovers catching each other’s attention in crowded rooms and slowly showed Bradley ageing as Leonard’s life unfolded.
Growing some grey hair, the trailer began flipping back and forth between colour and black-and-white scenes as the actor’s transformation occurred.
He shredded his usual Hollywood looks and with the help of prosthetics, appeared with a slightly wrinkled, sagging face and salt and pepper locks on his head.
The project directed by The Silver Linings Playbook star also featured Maya Hawke – who played the couple’s daughter, Jamie and Sam Nivola, as the part of their son, Alexander.
Elsewhere, fans will watch Matt Bomer, Sarah Silverman, Gideon Glick, Gabe Fazio, Eric Parkinson, William Hill, Nick Blaemire, Oscar Pavlo, Tim Rogan and Mallory Portnoy fill their screen when the film is released.
Maestro came after the actor’s directorial debut in 2018 when he added the skill to his roster amid filming for the remake of A Star Is Born – in which he starred opposite Lady Gaga.
The new film will premiere at the Venice Film Festival later this autumn in September and will go on to be released in select theatres in November. On December 20, it will appear on Netflix.
