has paid tribute to her late mum, five years on from her death, ahead of Mother’s Day.
The TV presenter, 61, remembered her late mum, Jean, fondly after she died of terminal at the age of 88.
Taking to Twitter to share a sweet family photo, the Countdown star spoke about the afternoon tea they enjoyed together shortly before Jean died in 2017, revealing that she was so close with her mum, they worked together since the 80s.
Carol wrote: ‘Mothers Day 2017. Mum had been diagnosed with terminal cancer a week before. So I got a beautiful room in @ivycliftonbrass for all of us to celebrate her. Mum had lived with me & worked for me since the 1980s. 24/7 it was always us. She died 2 months after this photo.’
The beautiful snap shows Jean sitting at a table with desserts and flowers in front of her, with family members smiling around her.
Carol sits next to her beaming mum, wearing a bright yellow dress and looking super happy to be with her nearest and dearest.
Fans showered the author with love and shared their own personal stories of loss in the replies.
‘How loved she was. What a bond between you. That’s such a treasure, therefore a sharp sharp loss to process and to learn to ride those waves. So beautiful, that you did this with and for her. Sending you love,’ one fan tweeted.

However, Carol insists she only looks back with happiness now when thinking of her mum, as businesswoman and The Apprentice interviewer Claudine Collins tweeted: ‘It’s a hard day for so many people. Thinking of you tomorrow Carol xx’
‘I only smile now. No grief xx remember and smile,’ Carol replied.
Carl in June 2017, saying it had been a ‘tough’ time while they laid her to rest.
She tweeted at the time: ‘Some days are tough, today was one of them. Today was my amazing Mum’s funeral….. Rest In Peace Jean Vorderman You will always be loved.’
In 2020, as she remembered Jean before Mother’s Day, revealing that they lived together for ‘over 30 years.’
‘I loved her very much. My heart will be with her tomorrow.
‘I’m going to have to go now because I’m getting all upset, but stay safe most of all, sending love to everyone,’ she said tearfully.
