III may be getting a whole crown this weekend at along with his wife , but the couple were still very excited about being given another honour.
The pair got to live out a lot of British children’s biggest dreams, by going on Blue Peter and being given badges.
These weren’t the bog standard ones either, they were fit for royalty in a gold hue.
Hosts Joel Mawhinney, Abby Cook, and Mwaksy Mudenda presented the royal couple with the accolade.
Joel took the lead and thanked them for their ‘amazing work empowering young people and for your help protecting the environment.’ To show their gratitude, Joel presented the ‘highest accolade that we have here on Blue Peter.’
Charles, 74, was taken aback by the surprise gift and said: ‘Oh goodness me. Thank you very much.’ 75-year-old Camilla echoed his sentiments saying: ‘How wonderful, thank you very much.’
Mwaksy even assisted Charles in pinning the prize to his suit during the coronation special of the CBBC children’s show. Once the badge was in pride of place he told the hosts: ‘I’m very touched, thank you.’
We hope that they keep these safe in a display cabinet at Buckingham Palace.
The official Royal Family Twitter shared that they were ‘proud new owners’ of the budges so we don’t actually doubt it.
