and Ellie Taylor are joining forces for Cheat – a brand new game show on Netflix.
The 44-year-old actor – who is set to leave his long-running role as in EastEnders after almost a decade later this year – will front the new general knowledge series for the streaming giant, which will see contestants battle it out for the chance to win up to £50,000.
He said: ‘This is a great new series and there’s no quiz show better suited for me; expect enormous wins, loads of slippery people cheating and banter with the one and only, Ellie Taylor.’
The 38-year-old comedian added: ‘I’m so excited to join Cheat and the Netflix family.
‘Cheat has all the elements I want in a quiz show; great questions, unashamed cheating and Danny Dyer calling me ‘Treacle’ at least once per episode. I can’t wait to get started!’
Described as a programme rewarding ‘both brains and blaggers’, the show is due to launch on the platform in 2023.
The synopsis reads: ‘Cheat is a ground-breaking high-stakes quiz show where contestants can literally cheat their way to a fortune.… as long as they don’t get caught!
‘In every episode, four brave players have their knowledge put to the ultimate test, as they fight it out over three rounds to avoid elimination and build a jackpot worth up to £50,000.
‘But there’s one crucial twist in this brand-new quiz show… if you don’t know the answer… it pays to Cheat!’
Former soap star Danny – who is married to Joanne Mas and has Dani, 25, Sunnie, 25, and eight-year-old Artie with her – is certainly keeping busy after it was revealed he’ll be leaving Albert Square.
Since , Danny has also signed up to front a set of travel shows for E4 with his eldest daughter and Love Island winner Dani.
Back in January, a spokesperson said: ‘Danny will be leaving EastEnders when his contract comes to an end later this year. Danny has made Mick Carter an iconic character which we shall always be grateful for.
‘However, we won’t be saying goodbye just yet as there’s still quite some time – and plenty of explosive drama for Mick – to come before he departs Walford.’
Danny added: ‘I’ve decided not to renew my contract. That’s all. That’s not because I’ve fallen out with anybody – I love everybody.
‘That job has been amazing for me. It’s an important part of television. I’m grateful for the beautiful years I’ve had there. I’m going to miss the people massively. It’s me taking a risk.’
Cheat is coming to Netflix in 2023.
