Coldplay’s Chris Martin sparks backlash after revealing he only eats once a day because that’s what Bruce Springsteen does

has come under fire after revealing he only eats one meal a day and cited as his inspiration.

The stops eating at 4pm daily and skips dinner.

Fix You crooner Chris, 46, explained he was inspired to adopt the strict eating habit after having lunch with 73-year-old Bruce, who follows the same regime.

‘I actually don’t have dinner anymore. I stop eating at four and I learned that from having lunch with Bruce Springsteen,’ dad-of-two Chris shared.

Speaking on the Conan O’Brien , the musician added: ‘I was lucky enough to go over there to lunch the day after we played Philadelphia last year. I was on a really strict diet anyway.

‘But I was like, “Bruce looks even more in shape than me” and Patti [Bruce’s wife] said he’s only eating one meal a day. I was like, “Well, there we go. That’s my next challenge”.’

Fans were quick to point out that Chris’ eating habits sounded unhealthy in the comment section below.

‘Isn’t that an eating disorder?’ queried one social media user, while another wrote: ‘One meal a day… whewf.’

‘Oh my God no wonder I noticed how thin Bruce has gotten. WTH? And Chris has always been rail thin,’ remarked someone else.

One YouTuber noted: ‘First Gwyneth and her bone broth… and now her ex doesn’t eat dinner. The disordered eating habits of famous people is beyond obnoxious and dangerous.’

They were of course referring to the fact Chris’ ex, Gwyneth Paltrow, was after suggesting her it mainly consisted of ‘bone broth’.

The 50-year-old Oscar-winner was , ensuring fans she ‘eats full meals’.

Speaking earlier this month on the with Dr Will Cole, the Shallow Hal star explained she fasts until 12pm when she would eat ‘soup’ or ‘bone broth’ followed by an hour of exercise and eats ‘lots of vegetables’ in the evening in accordance with the paleo diet.

Addressing the criticism her comments drummed up, Gwyneth later said the diet was devised with her doctor to help with her symptoms of long-Covid and focussed on foods to combat inflammations, such as ‘cooked vegetables, proteins and healthy carbs’.
