Australian comedian Nikki Osborne has claimed an X-rated joke during a segment on onesies got her ‘fired’ from a TV show.

Osborne shared the gag during an appearance on Channel Nine’s Mornings – evidently pre-2016, when the show was renamed to Today Extra – for want of a better word, which saw hosts David Campbell and Sonia Kruger barely able to contain their laughter.

She was seen in a debate-style segment on onesies (stay with us here), remarking her comment in the clip was what saw her ‘fired’.

In the video uploaded to her Instagram, Osborne was asked whether she thought ‘grown women look weird in onesies’ amid conversation around ‘comfy pjs’ being sexier to partners.

She replied matter-of-factly: ‘Well my husband always says you don’t look at a turkey when you’re stuffing it.’

As Kruger was seen raising a hand to her face and stifling her laughter, Campbell quipped: ‘What does that even mean?’

Osborne replied, perhaps knowing it was not a morning show-appropriate joke: ‘I won’t explain it … But, I think too many hipsters have been interviewed regarding this, because I think most men would prefer women in their lingerie than their jimmy jams or their onesies.’

Still, finding a way to bring some sauce into proceedings, she added: ‘I mean let’s face it, onesies are a logistical nightmare if you’re trying to enter a jiggery-pokery, because it’s like “Oh, give me five minutes.”‘

Campbell wasn’t keen to hear any more, telling Osborne: ‘After hearing what your husband says, I’m not even looking forward to Thanksgiving anymore,’ while Kruger joked: ‘There goes that turkey sandwich I was going to have for lunch.’

Sharing the ‘old# clip on her feed, Osborne joked: ‘This was one of my favourite firings. #fyp #controversy #turkeystuffing.’

When asked by a follower: ‘Did they seriously fire you from the morning show???’ she replied: ‘yes ha ha ha.’

Osbourne – who appeared on the 2020 season of Australia’s I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! and starred in How To Stay Married – added in her Stories: ‘Yes, I was fired. Lasted 3 weeks.’

The comedian recently stirred controversy over another joke, after she shared a meme about convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein last year.

In the image the disgraced Hollywood producer was seen alongside US actress Lindsay Lohan, with the caption: ‘The original no jab, no job’.

Amid the outrage, with many condemning the actress for comparing Weinstein’s crimes to vaccine mandates, Osborne wrote on social media: ‘Dear Mob, You’ve been misinformed. Your quarrel is not with me. I’m on your team. Warmest, Casting couch survivor.’
