As the war in continues into its second month, with the country amid ’s invasion, a new fundraising effort will be taking place tonight.
Concert for Ukraine, hosted by ITV, STV, Livewire Pictures and the Global radio group, will donate all proceeds to the Disaster Emergency Committee (DEC) Appeal.
The money raised will go towards providing food, shelter, medical supplies and support to displaced Ukrainians.
Featuring a star-studded line-up, including Ed Sheeran, Paloma Faith and Camila Cabello, as well as appearances by Spice Girls icon , Capital DJ and JLS member, the event will be held at the Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
The ticketed event will take place tonight, Tuesday, March 29 from 8pm until 10pm.
How to watch Concert for Ukraine on TV
If you missed out on scoring a ticket to the sold-out concert, you can still watch on TV at home.
ITV will broadcast Concert for Ukraine live tonight (Tuesday, March 29) from 8pm, for audiences at home who want to tune in to the performances.
Money made from the programme, through normal ad breaks, will also go directly to the DEC to help those fleeing Ukraine.
In a press release, the channel confirmed: ‘All sponsorship and advertising revenue generated from the broadcast of the event (primetime across both linear and simulcast), which is expected to raise over £3million, will also be donated by ITV to the DEC appeal.’
STV, a Scottish channel which is part of the ITV network, will also broadcast the concert live.
Finally, Capital and Heart radio stations will be providing radio coverage of the concert.
The star-studded concert follows other global pop-culture events which have paid tribute to those in Ukraine.
There was a poignant moment of silence during the Oscars ceremony, attended by Jason Momoa and Benedict Cumberbatch amongst those offering solidarity on the red carpet with blue and yellow pins and ribbons on their outfits.
Ceremony bosses acknowledged the conflict with a silence in the middle of the awards, with slides on screen asking viewers to support ‘in any way you are able’.
‘We’d like to have a moment of silence to show our support for the people of Ukraine currently facing invasion, conflict and prejudice within their own borders,’ the message read.
Concert for Ukraine will air on ITV from 8pm tonight.
