2021’s has a simple message for fans who like to make a point of saying they’ve ‘never heard of’ upcoming contestants.
Dan, 45, competed in Strictly last year alongside partner Nadiya Bychkova, 32, with the pair making it all the week to the quarter-finals.
They were a huge hit with fans, in a series that was particularly well-loved amongst viewers.
As Strictly fever is well and truly brewing ahead of its milestone 20th series, , the first few names involved have been announced in quick succession.
So far, , with many fans already excited about how the line-up is shaping out.
But as always, some can’t resist loudly shouting that they’ve ‘never heard of’ certain names taking part.
Dan, who has recently moved to 5 News from BBC Breakfast, was clearly getting a bit fed of the negativity and shared his thoughts with his social media followers.
He wrote on Instagram: ‘Will never get my head round the “never heard of them” crew when you see someone announced on #Strictly you don’t know much about.
‘Get on Google, learn a bit about them.’
Dan went on to add his support to the class of 2022, concluding: ‘Looking forward to seeing the full set of this year’s bunch.’

Five names – Jayde Adams, Kaye Adams, Will Mellor, Richie Anderson and Kym Marsh – have been confirmed so far, with more additions expected imminently.
As well as welcoming a fresh batch of celebrities to the ballroom, , , Motsi Mabuse and Anton du Beke return to serve as the judges.
Elsewhere, four new professional dancers will be seen on our screens, taking the total number to 20 – the highest ever on the show.
