Comedian Darren Harriott has been announced as the eighth celebrity taking the ice on the next series of Dancing on Ice.Â
The news was confirmed as Darren appeared on Trisha Goddard’s Talk TV show, where he revealed his fears he might fall as soon as he gets out there to skate.
He joked: ‘I’ve got giant feet, I don’t skate and I can’t dance! My family has already made bets – they’re making bets that I’ll fall on the first episode!’
Darren added: ‘I’m worried I’m going to fly and just go into Phillip Schofield. Trisha, you’ve got to help me, I’m panicking. I’m worried, I can’t skate, and I don’t really dance, what am I doing?’
He revealed that he has the biggest feet of any Dancing On Ice contestant to date at a size 13, admitting: ‘I don’t have boots yet , I’m the only person who doesn’t have boots.’
Trisha, who appeared on Dancing On Ice in 2020, reassured Darren that he would be given ‘padding’, to which he joked: ‘I’m nervous about the ice, you know what Trisha, I like the heat, I’m a fan of being warm.’
The 34-year-old is an award-winning stand-up comedian who has also appeared on Love Island: Aftersun, Mock The Week, Live at the Apollo and Richard Osman’s House of Games.
Darren will be competing against the likes of Towie’s , former EastEnders star , football legend , winner Ekin-Su CülcüloÄŸlu, olympic gymnast , Coronation Street’s Mollie Gallagher and drag queen The Vivienne.
There are a few more names to be announced as 11 celebrities will take the ice next year to impress the judges and viewers – and hopefully make it to the final without any injuries on the way.
