EA’s sci-fi horror remake has gone straight to number one in the UK sales charts, but Forspoken appears to have been beaten by Hi-Fi Rush.
The survival horror renaissance continues to underwhelm, at least in terms of UK boxed sales, with the selling less than half that of spiritual sequel . The latter came out at a busier time of year, and was cheaper, but it’s still a surprising result as Dead Space is an established name that earned notably better reviews than its rival.
Dead Space did at least beat Square Enix’s , which despite being a major new IP for the company has enjoyed little real buzz since its announcement, and suffered mostly negative reviews.
Since this is only the retail chart it’s likely that the most successful games of the week were actually GoldenEye 007 and Hi-Fi Rush, although quantifying exactly how well they have done is all but impossible, considering most of their downloads will have been via subscription services. On though Dead Space is the second best selling game on the service, ahead of Hi-Fi Rush at number eight – Forspoken is not in the top 10.
