revealed she was not keen on re-entering the supernatural world when she made the decision to return to acting.

The actress soared to fame after appearing in seven seasons of the hit teen drama that ran from 1997 until 2003.

Despite spending her early career ridding the world of demons and vampires as Buffy Summers, the now 45-year-old actress was hesitant to attach her name to dream-land monsters for a second time.

Set to appear in ’s latest flick Wolf Pack, it seemed she finally came around to the idea but it wasn’t an easy call.

The actress told the Guardian newspaper she point-blank refused to read the script for the new series when approached by producers.

She said: ‘I was like, “I’m not reading it”. Werewolves? No, thank you – been there, done that.’

Sarah then went on to share what eventually convinced her to play arson investigator Kristin Ramsey in the teen drama that she also executively produced – alongside Teen Wolf and Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis.

‘Jeff wasn’t just looking for “SMG” to be part of a werewolf show. He was looking to modernise the tale, and deal with what we’re all facing now,’ she explained.

The famous faces shared how her supernatural roles have echoed society in the past: ‘Buffy dealt with the horrors of adolescence. Our monsters, the scary part, is the manifestation of the mental health crisis we’re facing, the isolation and then, on a lesser note, what we’re doing to our planet.’

Sarah felt a connection to this particular saga as she was now playing a part of influence and trying her hand at producing behind the scenes.

‘I’ve been doing this for 40 years. I have a lot of experience, and I have a lot to bring to the table’, the actress commented.

She emphasised: ‘If you’re just looking for an actor that just wants to have the credit, I’m not your person. I’m going to have ideas, and I’m going to be vocal about them.’

Wolf Pack follows the lives of two teenagers who encounter a supernatural creature after California is racked by wildfires.

Joined by several other teens, the main characters unravel a secret that connects them all just in time for the full moon.

Wolf Pack is currently available to watch on Paramount+.
