He continued to : ‘And also exercise, over the years. But I don’t think of myself anything like that age, I think of myself at 25.’
He also credits his big family for keeping him youthful.
‘Having five kids and surrounding myself with young people, and keeping up to date with the news, helps to establish that mindset of youth.
‘I never really want to grow up properly – I’m far too immature for that,’ he concluded.
Dr Hilary also revealed how he celebrated the milestone, and he had not one, not two but three parties! This is because he celebrated separately with family, friends and then ITV.
‘I was really spoiled that week,’ he proclaimed.
It isn’t over either as he’s planning a big family holiday later in the year to continue the good vibes. You only turn 70 once!
Back in June, viewers were keen to express their disbelief at his age and wish him a happy birthday.
‘Happy 70th Birthday to a doctoring legend Hilary, you have helped so many people over your years as the Doctor in morning TV, you’re a credit to your profession & who doesn’t look his age,’ they wrote.
While someone else joked: ‘Dr Hilary looks younger now than he does in that compilation!’ after watching a montage of his time on ITV.
Dr Hilary was featured regularly on GMTV from 1989 as the health and medical advisor.
When ITV shook up their morning broadcasts with the introduction of Daybreak and Lorraine in 2010 – followed by Daybreak’s replacement GMB in 2014 – Dr Hilary stayed on as Health Editor.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
