Ed Sheeran belts out surprise performance on top of car in New York City after winning court case

But this week Ed went back to his roots as he took to the streets armed with just an acoustic guitar.

Ed, tragically, could not attend her funeral due to beingMarvin Gaye’s track Let’s Get It On in his song Thinking Out Loud.

The musician won the trial, and while he was grateful noted that he would not get that time back with his grandmother and family.

Ed did celebrate his win however – by treating fans to a surprise performance in the Big Apple.

Shivers singer Ed was spotted outside a pop-up store in the Soho area, where he took to the top of a car as a make-shift stage.

Belting out a couple of his best-known tracks, Ed quickly drew a crowd to the street who sang along, recorded video and took selfies.

People were even seen standing on their balconies as they took in the sights and sound of Ed taking busking to another level, as the New Yorkers enjoyed the good weather promising the upcoming summer.

It comes as the star revealed he did not turn down playing King Charles’ coronation, and in fact he wasn’t even invited to perform.

Speaking on Sirius XM’s The Morning Mash Up, he explained: ‘‘I want to clear something up actually because there was loads of stuff in the press that I turned down the coronation, and no one ever asked me ever

‘I assume if they went online and went, “What’s Ed doing on May 6th?” they would’ve been like, “Oh, he’s .”

‘I think that’s what happened, but obviously, [the] press had the negative story of loads of people turning down the coronation. But I never ever turned it down,’ he stressed.

Instead Ed will temporarily replace Katy as a judge on American Idol this weekend, while Alanis Morisette will take over Lionel’s spot on the show.

Charles and wife Camilla were crowned on Saturday in a lavish ceremony at Westminster Abbey – the first coronation in the UK since Queen Elizabeth II’s in 1953.
