Everything Everywhere All At Once has officially broken A24’s box office record, becoming more successful than films like Uncut Gems and Ladybird.

The sci-fi phenomenon, starring Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan and Jamie Lee Curtis, has officially become the studio’s highest grossing hit ever.

On Saturday, the film passed the $50.02million (£40million) made by the Safdies’ Uncut Gems, starring Adam Sandler.

Everything Everywhere All At Once, directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, known collectively as the Daniels, premiered at South By Southwest during the Covid pandemic and has seen huge success since.

The mind-blowing sci-fi romp follows a mother (Michelle) who is told she must connect with parallel universe versions of herself to stop the end of the world.

The film also sees the return of Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom and The Goonies actor Ke,

He : ‘The first week of shooting I was really nervous because I hadn’t done anything for 20 years.

‘The first shot, it was me sitting in front of Jamie Lee Curtis, behind me was Michelle Yeoh, and to my left was James Hong, and this was the very first shot, and I kind of had a panic attack, and I go, “What the hell am I doing? These are all legendary actors”.

‘I was really nervous and, after it was done, I walked up to the Daniels, and I said, “Is there anything you want me to change?” And they go, “No, no.” So we kept on shooting and there was one shot I did, and Jamie Lee Curtis is always by the monitors watching.

‘When she’s not working, she doesn’t go into a dressing room, she’s by the monitor watching. When she saw, she came over to me, and she said, “Ke, that was fricking incredible.” And to get that praise from Jamie Lee Curtis meant so much to me. I walked on set the next day with total confidence, and that’s how I finished the movie.’

A24 is also the studio behind films like Moonlight, Ex Machina, Green Room, Hereditary, and Minari.
