Former superstar Davey Boy Smith Jr is recovering after emergency surgery which unearthed another serious health issue.
The 38-year-old son of late wrestling legend the British Bulldog has been pulled from a match this weekend as he’s still in ‘immense pain’ following the procedure.
In a post on Instagram on Thursday night, he revealed he went to hospital ‘late’ the previous night to have his appendix removed only to discover he was also suffering with diverticulitis.
As a result of the complication, he also needed some of his colon removed as well as ‘some’ of his appendix.
‘I wanted to inform everyone officially I needed to have Emergency surgery ? ?⚕️ ❤️? late last night for appendicitis + appendix removal, to find out it was diverticulitis as well. ?,’ he wrote on Instagram.
‘I have had part of colon removed with some of my appendix as well for the procedure ???. Folks this was one of the most painful experiences of my life, but I’m glad I got it done.
‘A burst appendix can lead to serious complications too.’
Smith – who also and is best known for being part of the New Hart Foundation with Natalya and Tyson Kidd -had been set to challenge for the Major League Wrestling (MLW) world title this weekend but he won’t be able to perform due to his recovery.
