Fortnite has added a new quest, but there’s an issue in completing it: the gun you need isn’t in the game.
Epic Games’ Fortnite recently replaced one of the game’s weekly quests, where you had to lock onto an opponent’s vehicle and then damage it with the anvil rocket launcher.
The reason for the removal was that the rocket launcher was missing user interface elements, making it impossible to tell when the weapon has locked on.
While this has been fixed for a , the replacement quest, destroying structures with a light machinegun, has come with its own set of issues.
Where to find the light machinegun in Fortnite
Right now, you can’t. Epic aren’t due to release the gun out of the vault until Tuesday, April 26. So while the challenge is live now it cannot be completed at the moment.
Epic will often ‘vault’ a weapon to refresh the game’s flow, preventing players from getting too accustomed to one method of play. While this is great for the game in general, it has created an unusual problem for this challenge.
Once the weapon comes out of the vault, which it has been in since Chapter 2’s 15.0 patch, the light machinegun should be found in chests and by killing henchmen.
Why was the light machinegun vaulted?
Originally, the light machinegun was taken away from players because it was doing too much damage to the structures they were building.
However, as Chapter 3 Season 2 has introduced a mode that takes away building entirely, it now makes sense to reintroduce it back into the game’s roster of weaponry to mow down your enemies.
If you have The Terminator skins from last year, you’ll look right at home as you destroy the structures around the map.
What counts as a structure in Fortnite Chapter 3?
With the option to play without building, this raises the question of how you might damage structures when none are being built.
Similar to a previous quest, where you had to destroy structures with fire, the game counted trees and the pre-built wood buildings as structures. With this in mind, it’s logical to assume that the same rules will apply in Zero Build.
To make things easier though you don’t have to get all 10 in one game and just pick off a few every time you play until the challenge is complete.
