It’s said that the 35-year-old suffered a ‘serious ankle injury’ resulting in last-minute changes to his set.
Frank was reportedly involved in a bike accident, with sources claiming the incident occurred while he was at the festival rehearsing.
Insiders added that, while Frank wasn’t on stage when he was hurt, the mishap involved bikes used to
said the injury was severe enough for doctors to advise the musician to change his production.
One of these changes involved the use of an ice rink, which was supposedly built for Frank’s set.
It’s also believed a casting director reached out to a bunch of Los Angeles-based hockey teams in March for an unspecified paid performance.
Once the skaters got to the audition, they claim they saw Frank in person.
An insider added that 100 players were cast and they rehearsed on an elevated ice rink at Paramount Studios before heading to the desert for a dress rehearsal the week before Coachella kicked off
Alas, the ice rink couldn’t be used, with the cast informed on Sunday that the routine had been axed.
They hadn’t had a wasted trip, though, as they instead joined Frank as backing dancers.
The reports come after fans of the rapper – real name Christopher Francis Ocean – were less than impressed when they couldn’t even watch him perform.
His set was supposed to be live-streamed on YouTube, however, it appeared to be pulled from the schedule at the last minute. Â
At the end of the weekend, plenty of Frank’s supporters took to Twitter to blast the festival – where , – and air their frustrations.
According to , Frank’s performance should have started streaming at 10.05pm PDT but a message appeared on YouTube that read: ‘Frank Ocean is not scheduled to appear on the Coachella live stream.’
It’s believed he was also late to the stage, but that matter is yet to be solved.
