fans have been left emotional after spotting a very subtle tribute to beloved dog Eddie in the new reboot.
The revival landed on Paramount+ earlier this month, , surrounded by a brand new cast.
The first episode was dedicated to John Mahoney, who played Martin Crane in the original series, , and former Frasier script supervisor Gabrielle James.
Some eagle-eyed viewers have also discovered a nod to Moose, the late dog who previously played Martin’s dog, Eddie, before his son Enzo took over the role.
In fact, one of Freddy’s (Jack Cutmore-Scott) firefighter pals introduced himself as Moose, in memory of the late pooch.
Discussing the tribute on Reddit, a loyal fan penned: ‘One of the firefighters was called Moose.
‘A few people have posted about nods to the old series but I haven’t seen this one mentioned. Made me chuckle.’
‘Caught that one too! Oh Eddie,’ a follower replied.
A viewer posted on Twitter: ‘Loved the nod to ‘Eddie’ in the #frasierreboot with a character called MOOSE as that was the original Dog in #Frasier.’
‘In episode 2 did anyone catch that one of Freddy’s fireman buddies is called Moose? Moose was the real name of the dog that played Eddie. #frasier,’ another agreed.
As a commenter added: ‘The new #Frasier series is almost as good as the original.
‘John Mahoney and David Hyde Pierce’s presences are evident and appreciated. There’s even a character named Moose!’
Although Eddie isn’t in the series, Frasier does find himself going up against another four-legged enemy in the upcoming episode.
In a clip obtained by Entertainment Weekly, he can be seen telling an adorable Dalmation: ‘You are wasting your time. I am not a dog person.
‘Think you’re going to wear me down? Trust me, I’ve had years of experience. I outlasted that little mongrel, I’ll outlast you.’
Anyone else team dog?
Frasier is available to stream on Paramount+ now, with new episodes dropping on Thursdays.
